Principal's Message

Hello Birch Grove Community!

I am Mrs. Vicenta Ditto and am the proud principal of Birch Grove Primary School. I grew up in Aptos, California before moving to Phoenix, Arizona for my university experience.  That is where I spent the next 18 years learning, teaching, and, eventually, leading in public schools working with students from Kindergarten through 8th grade.  I received my Masters in Educational Leadership before moving home to the Bay Area. I love being a part of the Newark family; having found the inclusivity and student centered focus align with my own values as an educator!

In my five years as principal I have found that Birch Grove Primary, or BGP as we fondly call it, offers the amazing opportunity for students to be surrounded by like aged peers in a way that meets the robust needs of children.  We are a school that focuses on the social and emotional development as well as the academic growth of our Transitional Kindergarten to Second Grade students.

At BGP you can expect a warm and welcoming staff that is dedicated to doing what is best for kids.  Your child will be in an enriching environment in which they can grow.  Both you and your child will have the opportunity to make lifelong friends in our wonderfully unique community.  At Birch Grove Primary, we are all #BulldogsStrong and we look forward to serving your family.
